Description
This vibrantly lithographed map of the Central United States was published in Buffalo by Baker, Jones, Hausauer, Inc. around 1950 on behalf of the Kansas City Southern Lines. The routes of the Kansas City Southern Railway and the Louisiana & Arkansas Railway (acquired by the former in 1939) and their connections are brightly highlighted in red, running south from Kansas City to the coast at New Orleans and Port Arthur.\
A variety of typesets are employed to ensure that each station stop is carefully labeled along each route. Many of these towns, such as Forester, Arkansas, are no longer in existence. Inset maps running along the bottom of the page show the southern tip of Texas, KCSR’s Sabine ports, and the route into New Orleans.
