Promotional route map of U.S. 441 from Lake City to Miami.

Description
This map is one of the numerous strip-style route guides designed by organizations and travel associations seeking to draw tourists. According to Jim Akerman of the Newberry Library;
“Typical of this genre, the map emphasizes several advantages of the route over its competitors: Route 441 is the only U.S. Highway that passes through the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. The road is the “fastest through Georgia,” and it enjoys convenient highway connections from Chicago, Detroit and Cleveland to its northern terminus in Lake City.”
Note that most other north/south routes through Tennessee are omitted, and information on alternative roads is extremely limited. Published in 1951 by the U.S. 441 Highway Association.
