Description

Reaching into the waters of Lake Superior, Keweenaw County remains an isolated extension of Michigan’s Upper Pensinsula. It was clearly even more so in 1925, as this map presents only a sparse network of gravel roads, paved trunk lines, and railroads. Trails and wagon roads, both dirt, are also shown extending to numerous free tourist camps, indicated by small dots. These are labeled variously as huts, old camps, clubhouse, etc.

A distance table is provided in the lower right, along with instructions for its use. Published anonymously, but possibly by the Keweenaw County Board of Road Commissioners, in 1925.
