This punchy pictorial passion project presents an eight-state overview of historic Route 66, known colloquially as the Main Street of America. Each of the double-sided maps shows a suggested route for 21st-century travelers, plus the historic alterations and modern alternatives. Charming vignettes capture the cultural allure of the iconic highway – vintage service stations, neon hotel signs, roadside restaurants, and more. Accompanying text provides turn-by-turn directions, historic tidbits, and helpful travel advice. Further information is provided on the verso of each sheet, including a history of Route 66, artists’ biographies, and eastbound directions.

The maps were designed by the talented duo of artist Jerry McClanahan and historian Jim Ross. This is the fourth edition of the Here It Is! set, published in 2015 by Ghost Town Press of Arcadia, Oklahoma. Earlier editions were issued in 1994, 2000, and 2005, and a fifth was printed in 2021, highlighting the longevity of Route 66 as an important element of American self-identity.
