Description

This double-sided guide and business directory of the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina was published in 1965 by the Missouri Map Company. The primary image, signed Kaiser ’65 in the lower right, presents an attractive, if somewhat unrealistic, perspective of the lush and mountainous region.

Prominent transportation routes cut through the apparently impenetrable forest while a scattering of vignettes highlight local flora & fauna, recreational activities, and locations of interest. The verso provides a more practical and detailed map of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, 30 full-color advertisements for local businesses, and mileage tables.
