This colorful map of Missouri highlights numerous statewide tourist attractions, most prominently Meramec Caverns. A hilariously distorted perspective, allegedly made possible via satellite, puts the surrounding Midwestern states in a bit of a pinch, noting only the most convenient routes from which those residents can get to Missouri and its myriad of natural wonders (many of which are subterranean). Various locations of interest are labeled throughout the image, though text, photographs, and a cutaway diagram on the verso (which includes an atomic bomb shelter) all present details about Meramec Caverns.
Copyrighted in 1962 by Meramec Caverns, a 4.5-mile system of caves in the Ozark Region that is privately owned and has been operated as a tourist attraction since the mid 1930s. Lithographed by the Baughman Company of Richmond, Virginia.
