Description

This attractive strip map uses bold colors to showcase the network of highways along the eastern seaboard of the United States in the early 1950s. In particular, a combination of U.S. 15 and U.S. 17 between Summerton, GA and Jacksonville, FL is highlighted and advertised as The Golden Isles Route. Towns large and small are noted, likely reflecting their participation in the publishing association.

The verso features a mileage table and attractive stylized pictorial map of the route – allegedly the choice of five million tourists annually. Published in Savannah in 1951 by the U.S. Highway 17 Association of Georgia.
