Description

This light-hearted pictorial map was ‘done in haste’ by Dave Ruhe and apparently published in 1935 as a supplement to the Wolverine Observer, according to the only known example (located appropriately at Michigan State). It offers a hastily sketched bird’s eye view of the campus, oriented with south at the top of the page.

Primary buildings and university facilities are illustrated in profile, with several misspellings and amusing commentary scattered amid the labels. A chronology of events (Facts of the Case) are provided in the lower left, reflecting contemporary humor in stereotyping local history. The dates end with 1925, but the inclusion of Mary Mayo Hall indicates the drawing was originally done after 1931.

Scarce and listed only in one example in OCLC, as part of the Lawrence and Evelyn Walker Collection at Michigan State University Library.
