“The shortest route between Erie and New York City.”

Description
This fun little souvenir was published in 1939 by Curt Teich & Co., Inc. of Chicago. At the time, the proliferation of the automobile made competition among local roadways (often represented by associations or business organizations) quite fierce.
The postcard folder promotes the virtues and natural beauty of U.S. Route 6 (a.k.a. the Roosevelt Highway) through Pennsylvania, advertised as an easy and short route connecting the Midwest to New York and the rest of New England. Scenic vistas and well-paved roads give a visual representation of the drive, while an accompanying map on the back cover provides more practical directions. The Roosevelt Highway eventually became part of the transcontinental Route 6, renamed the Grand Army of the Republic Highway in 1946.
