Description
This amusing 1980 promotional poster, signed Ashby and dated in the lower right, advertises the fun skiing environment offered by the Hilton Shanty Creek resort near Bellaire, Michigan. Though the Lodge is prominently featured, the work is decidedly more form than function. A variety of caricatured figures, illustrated in a style very reminiscent of the era, enjoy the snow-covered slopes. Immediately below, the Cross Country Map first appears to offer a more typical geographic reference, but it, too, lacks any navigational value.
