Description
First opened in 1967, Six Flags Over Georgia is the 2nd amusement park in the Six Flags chain (following Six Flags Over Texas in 1961). This pictorial bird’s eye view was issued as a souvenir keepsake just two years later. Numerous rides and attractions are whimsically illustrated and labeled, including Krofft’s Puppet Theater, Tales of Okefenokee, Dahlonega Mine Train (the first roller coaster), and the Happy Motoring Freeway.
The ‘Wild West’ area near the top of the page shows (unnamed) Lickskillet, the park’s first significant expansion, modeled after a Georgia mining town. Other new additions include the Sky Hook, the Chevy Show, and a second flume to the Log Jamboree. The map was illustrated by Keith Kohler (signed, lower right) and published in 1969 by the Great Southwest Corporation, the parent development company of Six Flags.
