$100.00
Woodcut engraving from the September 29, 1877 issue of Harper’s Weekly.

Description
A beautiful hand colored print showing the view from the top of Pike’s Peak, near a ramshackle cabin. An inset view likely shows Colorado Springs at sunset, although the town wasn’t officially incorporated as such until a few years after publication. The mountain became the slogan for the gold rush that encompassed the region in the late 1850’s – “Pike’s Peak or Bust!”
The woodcut engraving was based on a drawing by John Randolph and published in the September 29, 1877 issue of Harper’s Weekly.
