Description
The title says it all on this charming little pictorial map, created by General Drafting Company on behalf of the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad Company. The historic railway bisects the image with double-solid lines, connecting Gouldsboro (upper left) to Denville (lower right) along a particularly scenic route. Small vignettes highlight the abundance of outdoor recreation (golf courses are pinpointed), important infrastructure, and scenic beauty. Of particular interest is the Pequest Fill, a 3-mile-long railroad embankment on which the Lackawanna Railroad ran. Topography is depicted in hachure, emphasizing several mountain peaks and ranges like the Poconos and Kittatinnies.
