Description
This wonderful illustrated view of Mount Rainier National Park offers a valiant attempt to distill the area’s breathtaking natural beauty into a static, two-dimensional image. Jagged mountain ranges, covered in trees and dotted with lakes, punctuate the steep valley.
Groundfall gradually changes to snow as it approaches Mt. Rainier, topped at Columbia Crest with its distinctive crater. Various tourist amenities like visitor’s centers, campgrounds, picnic sites, and ranger stations are noted according to the legend in the lower right.
The image was first copywritten in 1965 by Deel Molenaar, but this example has been updated to 1978. Printed in Seattle by United Graphics, Inc.
