Description

This straightforward map of Massachusetts highlights the state’s options for outdoor recreation. Bathing, camping, picnicking sites, and hiking trails are identified according to a legend in the lower center. State and U.S. Highway numbers are provided, along with recommended tourway routes in green.

According to text on the verso, “the routes indicated in green may be differentiated from all others as offering the tourist an opportunity for leisurely travel through the State on highways less congested with commercial traffic, and offering a fine cross-section of Massachusetts scenery.”

The fourteen tourway routes, one of which is directed with custom signage, are described on the verso. Also provided is an index of the 223 public picnic sites, beaches, campgrounds, and points of interest.
