“The Great Trunk Line Highway Through Pennsylvania.”

Description
“The Roosevelt Highway of Pennsylvania (as printed on the reverse) combined with the route outlined above offers motor travelers the most natural route between the East and the West – shorter by many miles than any other route…Throughout its entire length one is impressed with the absence of congestion – it is a fast route, yet it offers a wealth of scenery not found elsewhere.”
This interesting road map was copyrighted in 1928 by Mixer’s Motor Maps of New York and issued by the Roosevelt Highway Association of Pennsylvania. The content depicts a portion of the Roosevelt Highway (by then designated as U.S. Highway 6), an important and early transcontinental auto route. The primary image shows a segment connecting New York City to Cleveland, with the portion traversing Pennsylvania specially emphasized.
Distances between points are noted, along with major intersections, travelers’ amenities, and local attractions. Of particular interest is the popular resort town of Eagles Mere, shown as deceptively close to the ‘bee line’ route of the Roosevelt Highway. The verso of the brochure presents a strip map showing the connection (via U.S. Route 20) to Boston over the recently completed Bear Mountain Bridge (1924).
