Situated between the Upper and Lower Peninsula’s of Michigan, Mackinac Island has a rich history and is a notable tourist destination. Since 1898, the operation of motor vehicles has been banned on the island, leaving only horse, bike, or foot. Several industries sprang up to accommodate this restriction, including Jack’s Livery Stables, in operation since 1952.
This map was distributed to assist novice carriage drivers get their bearings on the island, and includes five simple rules for drive-your-self carriages.
