Description

A later version of Ernest Dudley Chase’s vibrant pictorial travel map of his home state of Massachusetts. This edition was published for distribution at the state pavilion during the 1964 New York World’s Fair. An inset map, not present in other versions, outlines various routes for getting to the fairgrounds in Queens.

Elsewhere on the map, Chase’s pride in his native state and passion for architecture are on full display. Numerous illustrations within the image and around the border show prominent buildings within Massachusetts, while others depict recreational activities or historic sites. One of a number of pictorial maps the artist created throughout his career.
