Description
This entertaining pictorial poster of Detroit, Michigan was illustrated by Bozidar Damjanovic-Benedict and published in 1977 by Scarborough, Ontario-based Archar, Inc. The Detroit River runs through the foreground, separating Motown from the Canadian city of Windsor; while the background incorporates several growing suburbs from the metropolitan area. The promotional piece is comprised of dozens of vignettes representing important buildings, local businesses, attractions, and recreational opportunities.
Notable examples include Pontiac Stadium, the Detroit Zoo, General Motors, and Civic Center Plaza. Amusing cartoon characters, often caricatures of business owners or historic figures, are shown engaged in a variety of activities and informational conversations. Accompanying captions offer a mix of humorous whimsy, historical facts, and civic pride. Apparently, the city had over 5,000 bowling leagues in the late 1970s!

Old cellophane tape repair in the upper margin (does not affect the image) and scattered soiling and foxing along the top of the page. Pinholes in the corners and light edge wear. About good condition overall
