Dated Events War Map

An alternate version of the 25th edition of Stanley Turner’s Dated Events War Maps.

This large folding map of the world captures the status of the ongoing global conflict of WWII just weeks after Germany’s surrender. The forthcoming Victory Edition (the latest events leading up to V-E Day had not yet been inserted into the image) is advertised next to the title block.

Across the map, numerous annotations mark important events as they unfolded throughout the war. Bright color is used to distinguish Axis, Allied, and neutral territories, with further explanation provided by the legend in the upper right.

Inset maps of the Balkan Countries and the region around Berlin reflect areas that would quickly fall from people’s minds, especially the Americans who were the primary audience for Dated Events War Maps. Further insets in the lower right capture the contemporary mood – ‘On to Tokyo’, the ongoing campaign in the Philippines, and the Japanese home islands.
