Description

This charming glimpse of Cambridge, Massachusetts was illustrated by Cindy Delpart and published in 1977 by Archar, Inc. of Ontario. It originated as a project by the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce, hence the emphasis on local businesses.

Restaurants, insurance companies, churches, auto dealerships, and more are advertised throughout, offering an interesting snapshot of the Boston suburb’s small business economy in the late 1970s. Harvard, MIT, Boston University, and other well-known institutions are also identified throughout the image. Cartoon figures are shown engaged in a variety of activities and conversations, providing a lighthearted and often humorous subtext.
