Description
This detailed maritime chart focuses on the area around Buzzard’s Bay, Massachusetts, one of the finest areas for sailing and fishing on the East Coast and includes portions of Martha’s Vineyard. It was compiled and published in Washington D.C. by the United States Coast and Geodetic Survey in 1937.
Scores of depth soundings are noted throughout the image, along with navigational hazards and coastal details. Orange dots highlight the location of beacons, lighthouses, and buoys. Areas with underwater cables are bounded with red dashes. Significant detail is also given to the various inhabited areas in the region, offering complex street plans of cities like New Bedford and even identifying the footprint of specific structures in many cases.
