Description
This brightly colored map of New Orleans’ celebrated Uptown neighborhood provides a personalized look at the local small business economy with a touch of cartoonish humor. A very rudimentary street plan is surrounded by illustrations of restaurants, retailers, professional services, historic plaques, and more. Nearly every square inch of the image is filled with an advertisement – even the waters of the Mississippi River!
Tulane Stadium sits prominently in the center of the image, accompanied by an extensive history of the facility. Much of the rest of the campus is also featured, perhaps reflecting the intended audience of the piece.
The map was illustrated by C. Lund in 1991 and copyrighted by the Cajun Images Advertising Agency. Printed in Harahan, LA by Garrity Printing. The artist included a charming dedication in the lower right corner.
