Description

This bird’s eye view of Aspen was issued about 100 years after the area was first settled by Americans as part of the Colorado Silver Rush in the 1870s. The ski resort town, now one of the most expensive localities on the planet, is shown at the foot of the mountain that shares the same name. Only two lifts are shown in operation – today, there are 8.

Dozens of small businesses are illustrated and labeled, providing an interesting economic snapshot of the area from the early 1980s. The map was published in Aspen in 1981 by The Pict-O-Graph Company.
