Description
“Don’t Miss this Sparking Program of Fun, Frolic and Music Broadcast Over the Blue Net work Every Tuesday.” – Text, lower center.
This ephemeral promotional piece was distributed by the Peter Fox Brewing Company around 1942/1943 to promote its Fox de Lux ‘Variety Show’ – itself a radio tie-in to sell the beer of the same name. The famous Doris Day, still early in her career, headlines a cast that includes Ray Shannon, Toby Nevins, Dolly Good, and Jimmy Wilbur, plus others.
The verso provides a small map of Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Iowa that shows the radio coverage of the program and pinpoints the headquarters of broadcasting stations in the Blue Network. A ‘Notice to Fox De Luxe Distributors and Dealers’ at the bottom of the page pleads, “Please post the inside center spread of this Folder in a prominent place to call your customers’ attention to the New Fox De Luxe Radio Program.”
