Description
One catalyst for the growth of the rail lines is the recent discovery of valuable deposits of fossils, useful as an agricultural fertilizer. Locations of these massive phosphate deposits, some of the largest in the United States, are highlighted in red; though they are perhaps a bit overstated, as later editions of the map will show a severely truncated region of productive mining.
