Description
This animated look at Atlanta, Georgia was illustrated by Shunichi Yamamoto and published in 1978 by the Scarborough, Ontario-based firm of Archar, Inc. A stylized presentation of the city’s downtown is surrounded by the rapidly growing metropolitan area. Major businesses are illustrated and labeled (the work was issued as a promotional piece); along with local landmarks, attractions, and important institutions.
Notable examples include Coca-Cola HQ, Six Flags Over Georgia, Urban Walls (a public art installation), and the Atlanta Stadium. The distortions in size, cartoon characters (occasionally caricatures of business owners), and whimsical accompanying text provide an entertaining look at Atlanta during the late 1970s.
