Supplement to the Report of the Chief of Engineers – Reports of the Mississippi River Commission and Missouri River Commission

Early 20th century reports from the Mississippi River Commission and Missouri River Commission.

This impressive assortment of bound maps, charts, diagrams, tables of statistics, and correspondence was published by the Government Printing Office in 1902. It includes two supplemental reports submitted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – those of the Missouri and Mississippi River Commissions. The contents of the volume are emblematic of the Army Corps of Engineers’ goals of military/civil construction efforts to facilitate navigation, disaster mitigation, and landscape control along important waterways from coast to coast.

Folding charts present elaborate diagrams of water flow metrics and other important statistics. Maps show dredged areas, harbor improvements, coastal changes, and various proposed updates along the river courses. Areas covered include Memphis, Osceola, Natchez, Kansas City, St. Joseph, Lake Providence, and numerous other sites situated along the two important waterways. An index is also included.
