Description

This uncommon pamphlet was published in 1970 for use by participants in the San Francisco Bay Area Youth Walks for Survival. The youth-organized effort sought to enlist thousands of high-school students to raise money and public awareness regarding the pitfalls of nuclear proliferation. Basic instructions on the front cover (ask for pledges, walk, collect) open up into blank entries for a sponsor card, checkpoint card, registration card, and walk committee record. The back panel presents a rudimentary route map, which starts at Memorial Stadium and circles Lake Merritt before returning via San Pablo Avenue – an approximately 13.5 mile loop!

Published in 1970 by the Youth Walks for Survival, Inc., a student organization at the University of California, Berkeley.
