Description

The World’s Columbian Exposition Illustrated was a monthly circular compiled by James B. Campbell and published in Chicago by the World’s Columbian Exposition Publishing Company. Beginning in 1891, it was sold on a subscription basis for $4.00/year, which included eighteen printed issues of approximately 50 pages. Each issue contained tantalizing images, descriptive text, and other interesting tidbits of information about one of the most iconic events of the 19th century.

This book was published in 1894 and contains Volumes II and III of the circular, beginning in March of 1892 and concluding with February of 1894. The various issues contain dozens of illustrated images, portraits, photographic views, and accompanying articles that describe the planning, erection, and execution of the fair from some of its earliest stages through its final days. Of particular interest is a folding panorama that presents many of the main structures of the White City as under construction.
