Description

This eminently practical collection of Soviet maps, issued as part of a comprehensive ‘Military-Historical Summary’ of the major battles of World War II, was edited under the leadership of Lt. General S.P. Platonov. The work was issued in Moscow in 1958 by the CCP’s Ministry of Defense’s Military Publishing House. It contains a series of thirty-two battle ‘schemes’ (most folded) of varying scales that provide a well-curated overview of the Soviet Union’s primary engagements in the European and Pacific Theaters, though the latter is emphasized to a much greater degree. The major actions of Stalingrad, Operation Bagration, the Vistula Offensive, and more are noted with authoritative precision, marking unit dispositions, troop movements, etc.
