Description
This well-designed poster was issued in 1971 to encourage public participation in a Washington, D.C. rally for abortion rights. On May 15th, a march was planned, with support from the Metropolitan Abortion Alliance, from Lafayette Park to the U.S. Capitol Building. According to the American University Library;
“The demonstration was held in support of women’s right to a free abortion on demand and no forced sterilization, and to oppose legislation that bans or limits abortion rights. Speakers at the demonstration included Ti-Grace Atkinson, Maryalice Carter, Lucinda Cisler, Tina Hobson, Floynce Kennedy, Lizz Kleemier, Mary Helen Mautner, Roberta Milowe, Marge Nelson, Dianne Schudler, and Jean Walton.”
