Description

This eye-catching unit history captures “325 days of continuous contact with the Germans in Italy until their final defeat [in] three major campaigns.” The sheet, divided into quadrants, presents stylized maps of the IV Corps’ operational efforts in the Northern Apennines, the Po Valley, and Rome-Arno sectors after the unit replaced the VI Corps in the U.S. Fifth Army.

Geographic features, major landmarks, and prominent battle sites are labeled, though with some serious liberties taken in terms of their respective locations. Statistics and tables note the total troops engaged, enemy divisions, captured generals, and amounts of expended ammunition.

Signed Mitchell in the lower right corner. Printed for the IV Corps Engineering Section in Milan by Officine Fotolitografiche in 1945.
