Description

This attractive view of Napa Valley, California shows numerous vineyards in operation across the region during the early 1970s. The image predates much of Napa’s worldwide fame as a wine destination, as it was issued five years before the famous ‘Judgement of Paris’ (1976) that put the region on the map and a full decade before Napa Valley was declared its own protected appellation (1981).

Even so, a range of today’s popular brands like Berringer, Mondavi, Berringer, and Sutter Home are represented with simple black and white vignettes set amid a verdant green valley. Geographic features and other notable locations such as the Robert Lewis Stevenson Museum and the Hurd Candle Factory are also labeled.

Drawn by Earl Thollander and copywritten by Nut Tree in 1971.
