West Lafayette [and] Lafayette
$95.00
Simple street plan of Lafayette and West Lafayette, Indiana, issued in a guide book to Purdue University.
Description
The Wabash River can be seen splitting the sister cities of Lafayette and West Lafayette on this map, issued sometime during the early/mid 1940’s. Roads, city limits, parks, businesses, cemeteries and railroads are all individually labeled. The campus of Purdue University can be seen in West Lafayette, including Ross Ade Stadium, the Intramural Field and the golf course.
The map’s scale is cleverly embedded within the compass rose. The image, according to text at the bottom of the sheet, was drawn by Pauline Harlan and adapted from an earlier map issued by C.M. Draper. The map was published as a fold out in “A Guide to Purdue University Prepared For The Many Who Come To The Campus Each Year,” which was distributed between 1941 and 1949.
