Description
This fun illustrated map of ‘Indiana’s First City’ shows a vibrant stylized overview of Vincennes, founded in 1732 by French fur traders. As the oldest continually inhabited settlement in Indiana, Vincennes is home to a variety of museums and historic sites like the George Rogers Clark Memorial and the original capitol building of the Indiana Territory.
However, these landmarks take a back seat to the local businesses advertised throughout the image. Some of the author’s favorites (he was in elementary school when the map was published) include Zip & Sip, Bill Bobe’s Pizzeria, and Sport’s Haven. One of the town’s most famous residents, the comedian Red Skelton, is also celebrated.
