This “unusual and complete collection” of maps was published in New York by C.S. Hammond & Company. The illustrated cardboard box contains a ‘War Map Kit’ of 8 different pieces, briefly described below.
- Hammond’s War Map Individual Maps of the Pacific Ocean Japan Hawaii The World – A large (26.75″ x 20.25″) double-sided composite sheet that focuses on the Pacific Theater;
- World Atlas of Today War Edition – 31 pp. atlas dated 1943 that contains a fascinating variety of political and thematic maps;
- Hammond’s Reference Map of the World on Mercator’s Projection – Large (32″ x 22″) color-printed political world map (single-sided).
- Defense Map of the United States…Showing the Mobilization Of the Military and Economic Resources – Large (32″ x 22″) pictorial map of defense facilities in the U.S., with insignia of the Armed Forces in the border;
- Map of the World with Flags of the Leading Nations – Appears to be the odd man out, a prewar political map that includes the swastika among the Leading Nations;
- Story of American Flags – A small double-sided pamphlet that outlines the history and variants of Old Glory
- Hammond Battle Maps Covering All War Fronts – Large (26.75″ x 20.25″) double-sided map focusing on the European Theater, with cut-out flags to track ongoing campaigns
- United Press War Map – Very similar to Hammond’s War Map
