Description

This informative map of Walworth County highlights the rapidly developing network of transportation across the southern Wisconsin County, located just over the border from Illinois. Railroads are prominently shown connecting many of the major towns, including Whitewater, Lake Geneva, and Delavan. Different road surfaces (pavement, gravel, and dirt) are shown with solid, hashed, and empty lines, respectively. Numerous lakes are labeled throughout the image, along with the location of cemeteries, churches, and schools.

Originally published, probably around, 1935 by the W.W. Hixson & Company of Rockford, Illinois. This example, brightly overprinted in red ink, was distributed by the real estate firm of Elmer E.
