The northern Italian wine region of Alto Adige.

This beautiful map covers a world-renowned wine-growing region along Italy’s Adige River. A stylized pictorial overview of the idyllic landscape is punctuated by small towns, images of famous persons, and other vignettes. A list of local cuisines reflecting heavy Austrian influence is shown at the top of the page.

The image is signed L. Plangger-Popp in the lower left. It appears the creator scratched out old toponyms (possibly formerly in German) to replace them with Italian labels. The Adige River is a good example, which has been overlaid directly. Printed in Balzano by Athesia, with financial sponsorship by the local Wine Committee of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture.
