Description

This attractively designed map shows the course of the Nile River between its delta on the Mediterranean Sea and the Second Cataract at Wadi-Halfa, near the border with Sudan. It was issued compliments of the Anglo-American Nile & Tourist Company, an operator of roundtrip luxury steamship tours from Cairo to the cataracts.

Settlements and locations of interest are labeled on either side of the river, with captions near the top of the page providing further information and statistics on Alexandria and Cairo. Running down both sides of the page can be seen scenes depicting prominent historic sites, the company’s spacious accommodations, and river life in Egypt. An inset in the lower left shows the section of the river between the First Cataract at the Aswan Low Dam and the Second Cataract further south.
