Description

This lovely bird’s eye view of the Notre Dame University campus in South Bend, Indiana was published in 1968, shortly after the opening of the Athletic & Convocation Center (renamed the Joyce Center in 1987). A numerical listing and alphabetical index identify over eighty separate buildings across campus, with construction dates accompanying the former.

Text and photographs on the verso provide additional information on many of the university’s historic structures and modern facilities. “The University of Notre Dame, once an obscure school in the northern Indiana wilderness, has become in little more than a century a great institution of higher learning, recognized the world over for the high caliber of its teaching, research, and public service.”
