Description

This official guide to the Chapel Hill campus of the University of North Carolina was published locally in 1963, during the midst of the Civil Rights movement and changing race relations. Malcom X attended a public meeting at Memorial Hall that year, prompted the rushed introduction of state legislation prohibiting ‘subversive’ speakers.

The building is numbered within the image, along with dozens of others, and identified in the accompanying index (lower right). Other facilities are labeled directly on the map or noted in the directory (left side). Photographs and descriptive text on the verso.
