Description

This captivating illustrated view of the University of Minnesota was published in Minneapolis by Archar, Inc. in 1979. It shows a lovely perspective of the campus just a few years after alumnus Norman Borlaug won a Nobel Peace Prize for his myriad of scientific contributions towards alleviating world hunger. Borlaug and other notable alumni are commemorated with caricatures scattered throughout the image.

Numerous buildings are individually drawn and labeled, while a myriad of figures engage in an amusing variety of activities. Examples include hunting a Missouri tiger outside Memorial Stadium, the ‘School of Hard Knocks’ in a nearby rail yard, and an inept rower in the Mississippi River! A fun and lively look at the home of the Golden Gophers.
