Description

This fascinating guide to the University of Hawaii takes a different approach from many of the campus plans designed for other educational institutions. Rather than pinpointing various athletic facilities, academic buildings, or administrative offices, the fold-out map and accompanying index identify the precise location of over 550 cultivated plants. The botanical name, family, and native region are provided for each. The tropical environment allows for a bewildering diversity of fauna.

The map was designed by H.S. Lau and published by the University of Hawaii in 1959 or 1960. The accompanying booklet was authored by a team of botanists including V.J. Krajina, J.F. Rock, and Harold St. John.
