Description

This rare collection of formerly confidential military plans outlines the building specifications for the U.S.S. Cubera, a Balao-class submarine first commissioned by the U.S. Navy in December 1945. The ship was constructed by the Electric Boat Company of Groton, Connecticut, and participated in several fleet exercises as part of Task Force Alpha in the late 1950s.

According to the front cover, the blueprints originated with the Cubera’s commissioning in December ’45. A nearby table of revisions indicates a latest date of October 1969, less than three years before the sub was decommissioned and sold to Venezuela. The contents provide detailed dimensional data, profile views, deck plans, and cross-sections of the entire ship.
