Description
This vibrant newspaper map uses bright colors to highlight the global geopolitical situation during the Vietnam war. Appropriately, red is used to identify Communist countries, while blue is reserved for the United States, yellow for western-aligned countries and green for ‘neutral’ nations. Thirty five separate countries are identified as having some sort of military presence, with the various bases and facilities comprising that force listed immediately below.
Accompanying costs, listed as nearly $20 billion annually, are listed at the bottom of the sheet, along with the monetary savings of impending troop reductions. The map was designed by Thomas Bunted and published in the May 24, 1967 issue of the Indianapolis News.
