Description

This large-scale manuscript plan was created by the Assistant Division Engineer of the Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago, and St. Louis Railway, commonly known as the Big Four. Dated 1935 in the lower right corner, the blueprint presents an overview of the Springfield, Ohio International Harvester Plant during the Interwar Period. Tracks are colored according to owner and an interesting mix of buildings, geographic features, and railway infrastructure are labeled.

The massive farm machinery plant, with its original buildings dating back to the 1880s, was an important economic driver for the city of Springfield. It closed in 2002 and the structures were demolished, with the area now occupied by a shipping company.
