Description
This map of the town of Westchester, New York was originally issued in an atlas published by the firm of F.W. Beers & Co. around 1870. This particular example has been previously disbound and mounted on linen, indicating it had a practical use at some point in the past. Old pencil marking relating to real estate transactions give some indication of this prior purpose, though only speculative.
The map presents a detailed overview of the city and immediate surroundings, with individual buildings outlined and a variety of places, geographic features, land owners (including lot acreage) and local industries individually labeled.
