Description

This brightly colored pictorial map of Southwestern Texas shows the fictional home of the Lone Ranger, star of a popular radio broadcast and subsequent television series. Pictorial elements provide a cartoonish overview of the Wild West environment along the Rio Grande River, while an accompanying legend (provided by Cactus Pete) explains additional features.

The map was distributed in 1937, compliments of the Gordon Baking Company. Text on the verso explains the map’s purpose – to help Tonto find his friend and trusty horse, Silver, who have gone missing! An advertisement immediately below encourages the audience to try Gordon’s Silvercup Bread.
