This ambitious map of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games is now a reminder of the possibilities and promise held in the pre-pandemic world. The brochure, issued in Korean, was printed in late 2017 and features a simple street grid with 40 numbered locations identified in the accompanying key. Two large circles encompassing the Tokyo Bay and Heritage Zones intersect near the Athletes’ Village, forming a visual companion to the slogan ‘Infinite Excitement’.
Statistics on the verso (based on the 2012 games in London) anticipate over 8 million visitors, over 650 million pounds in ticket sales, and nearly 15,000 participating athletes.
